PC upgrade

I just ordered some hardware to upgrade my main PC. The last major update was more than a decade (sic) ago. The reasons for the update are:

  1. I’d like to edit the videos from my action cam (Insta360 X3) on the PC which requires CPU, RAM, and Graphics Card upgrades
  2. I’d like to play Counter-Strike 2 which requires CPU, Graphics Card upgrades
  3. I’d like to switch to Windows 11 which requires a CPU upgrade
  4. I’d like to upgrade my PC for the sake of upgrading it.

Reasons 3 & 4 where there for quite a while but I told myself, repeatedly, that they are not good enough reasons for spending the necessary money. Luckily, there are good reasons now! 😆

Here’s what I just ordered at Alternate:

PC upgrades

Yes, almost 1500 €. That’s quite a bit more than I initially had in mind, but in the end I figured that it is money well spent considering that the last upgrade was a long time ago and there (probably) won’t be another in the years to come.

I intent to keep the following from my previous rig:

  • Case (Fractal Design Define R5)
  • SSD
  • HDDs (at least 3)
  • DVD Writer
  • Front panel for memory cards (limited to USB 2.0 though, I might replace that one if I can find a suitable replacement)

Now, all I have to do is wait, patiently, for the parts to be delivered and assemble everything. It’s unbearable… 🥺
